Partials and Dentures
Partials
What are partial dentures?
Partials and partial dentures are essentially removable teeth. A denture is what is known as a “plate” and a partial is known as a “removable bridge”. Both of these date back to centuries past and have been a staple of dental practices until the recent perfection of implants.
How can partials be made more stable?
Today’s partials and dentures can be made the way they have been made for years or combined with implants for a better fit and greater chewing ability. The procedure for each involves a series of impressions and fitting of teeth for size, appearance and function. A partial denture hooks onto teeth that are remaining. Greater stability can be achieved by combining the partial with one or more implants to aid the remaining teeth in keeping the partial firm and stable.
